In 1940, Sara Blum’s fairytale life surrounded by a loving family and days filled with laughter in Vichy, France, shatters when the Nazis invade. As a young Jewish girl, Sara is abruptly separated from her parents when the Nazis arrive at herschool.

She quickly finds refuge with an empathetic family and their son, Julian, a daring boy with polio. Together, they live through the dangers of war, forming a deep bond in a time of fear.
